Abstrak

SLB B Pawestri is an extraordinary school B (deaf) established on April 1, 2005. SLB B Pawestri was established under the auspices of the Pawestri Karanganyar Foundation which is engaged in social society for people with disabilities, especially deaf people both preventively, curatively, promotively, and rehabilitatively. The purpose of this study was to find out more about Interpersonal Communication between Teachers and Deaf Students at SLB B Pawestri Jaten Karanganyar. This research uses a type of research that is descriptive with a qualitative approach. This study used purposive sampling techniques in sampling research informants. Data collection techniques are carried out by observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. This study looked at how to interact with deaf students who have difficulty communicating with others. This study used Joseph's theory. A. De Vito who uses several aspects of communication effectiveness, namely openness, empathy, supportiveness, and equality. The conclusion of this study is that Interpersonal Communication between Teachers and Deaf Students is quite effective with openness, positive attitudes, empathy, supportive attitudes, and equality that can improve the communication skills of deaf students
